Dana Marxer, MSEE, MBA

Founder, Chief Executive Officer

Dana has led marketing and product management teams for almost 20 years. She has a proven ability to distill new thought leadership concepts and create visionary marketing strategies with proven impact on revenue. Her work with the analyst community has led to superior ratings of technology companies, including leadership positioning on the Gartner Magic Quadrant. Dana brings a unique mix of skills as an innovative, strategic marketing leader, with the analytical approach and tactical execution of an engineer. Dana earned a Bachelor of Arts in Engineering and Economics as well as a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Dartmouth College, a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the University of Maryland. Dana is a devoted mother to 5 boys. They are her greatest inspirations.

Kia Christopher

Partner, Chief Operating Officer

Kia has mobilized go-to-market plans and marketing strategies for dozens of high-growth B2B technology companies. At Gen5, Kia manages lead generation campaigns from initial strategy to reporting and optimization and everything in between. Her work establishing marketing to inside sales to outside sales processes, architecting complementary systems (CRM, marketing automation), and aligning disparate functions results in accelerated sales growth. She works closely with clients to coach existing team members, and augment as needed. Kia graduated with honors from Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in International Business and Marketing. In her free time, Kia can be found spoiling her basset hounds and exploring the great outdoors.

Jonathan Fullerton

Managing Partner, Healthcare Practice

Jonathan has studied the healthcare industry for nearly 25 years. During that time he spent 16 years with the Advisory Board Company, where he launched several new business lines, served as an executive advisor to the firm’s largest clients, studied a broad range of health system clinical, operational and financial challenges, and advised boards and executive teams on overall strategy. Jonathan has also worked as a strategic consultant to some of the nation’s largest health systems; including Trinity Health, Providence Health and Services, and Dignity Health. He began consulting with emerging companies in the healthcare space in 2012, and has since partnered with dozens of companies to successfully support strategic marketing, branding, and sustainable growth. Jonathan also led pioneering branding and strategic growth work connecting Creative Artists Agency (CAA), the world’s most prestigious talent and branding agency, with some of the top brands in adult and pediatric medicine, including Mayo Clinic and Children’s National in Washington, DC. Jonathan graduated with honors from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and International Finance and Commerce. A native of Cape Cod, he now resides in Los Angeles, where he is an avid fitness and health enthusiast, Crossfit competitor, snowboarder, and casual French speaker.

Bret McDermitt

Chief Technology Officer

Bret has over 20 years of experience as a customer-centric technology developer and product visionary, delivering innovative solutions for organizations across various industries. Bret’s passion lies in envisioning and building solutions that anticipate user behavior and apply state-of-the-art technology and concepts to naturally evolve business processes to new levels of value for the organizations they serve. Bret is constantly innovating to provide deeper insight and alignment for Gen5 clients through their underlying systems and Gen5 sales and marketing methodologies. Bret’s leadership in technology is key to Gen5’s focus on architecting and maintaining strategic sales and marketing systems infrastructure to enable growth and create natural alignment across sales and marketing. Bret’s focus on distilling strategic goals into measurable sets of data fuel collaborative discussions and healthy debate with clients and the Gen5 team. Bret, his wife, their two girls, and their Blue Healer enjoy the outdoors and cherish their family time.

Denise Remus, RN, PhD

Healthcare Advisor

Denise brings more than 35 years of experience as a clinician, researcher, statistician, quality leader, and healthcare executive. Throughout her career, she has pioneered groundbreaking work in quality improvement. As a Senior Research Scientist, she studied quality indicators at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. She led quality teams as part of the Hospital Quality Incentive Demonstration Project (HQID), the pioneering venture between CMS and Premier, Inc. that was the first program to study and implement hospital pay-for-performance. Denise also studied quality measures, data, and evidence-based practice for the American Hospital Association’s HRET Hospital Engagement Network – leading to significant savings and harm reduction for participating hospitals. Denise has deployed her quality expertise at the system level, serving as the Chief Quality Officer at BayCare, one of Florida’s largest health systems, and for Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, Hopkins’ first expansion into a dedicated pediatric academic health system. Her passion for patient safety, evidence-based practice, and harnessing data for quality improvement are anchored in her experience as a clinician, where her expertise spans med-surg, critical care, primary care, hospice home care, and gerontology. A wife and mother, Denise resides in St. Petersburg, FL, where in addition to her passion for quality, she nourishes her passion for sailing and racing Porsches.

John Leary Sr., MBA

Healthcare Advisor

John has more than 30 years of experience growing healthcare-oriented companies across the country. With a background that includes multiple segments of the industry (payer, corporate, health systems, home care, disease management, health-related technology, and preventive health), he has an intimate understanding of the healthcare landscape and how the mosaic fits together. John is the Principal at Slainte Management where he helps health-oriented organizations achieve rapid growth. At Gen5, John’s background in business development, operations, consulting, and marketing helps guide the work that we do and the value we deliver to our clients. He is a sage advisor, a frequent collaborator and a constant source of Boston sports trivia. John earned a Bachelor of Science from Boston College, and an MBA from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. John and his wife Catherine live in Charlotte when he is not on a trail, in a kayak, or on an airplane somewhere.

Jenny Keinath

Director, Marketing Operations

Jenny brings nearly 20 years of sales and marketing operations experience to Gen5. She wears multiple hats – from developing strategic processes to managing internal operations and operational teams to event strategy and project management. In addition, she works in close collaboration with the Gen5 leadership team to ensure delivery of all client deliverables – on time and on budget. Prior to Gen5, Jenny worked at Siemens where she was responsible for customer events, sales and marketing operations, and was a project manager for global marketing. Jenny has a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Jenny is a native Charlottean and enjoys volunteering, spending days on the water, and time with her family.
